There's nothing like kicking off the first day of school with a little extra magic! This year is super special for us since Gabby will be starting her first year of preschool and Leo will be a big kindergarten-er! I just can't believe it. As I printed out each pennant I thought back to the early days when Leo was our only little baby and this day seemed so far away. I wanted the kids to feel special and get excited for all of the fun and new memories they will make with their friends this school year. This festive back-to-school breakfast table is filled with easy favorites and playful details to celebrate!
The center of the table was a homemade maple bundt cake—rich, moist, and topped with the dreamiest maple glaze. My kids love syrup, so they loved this cake! I paired it with store-bought donut holes (an easy favorite) and a colorful fruit trio of strawberries, cantaloupe, and honeydew.

I found these cutie apple-shaped plates and composition book napkins for a cute classroom touch. Everything was served on my go-to silver serveware—I use it year-round for EVERYTHING from birthdays to brunches.
To tie it all together, giant pencil blow ups and matching pencil balloon garland that I threw together added a fun touch. After sword fighting with the pencils for a good half hour, we took a few minutes to pray our back to school prayer and talk about what we are looking forward to this year!

Simple, sweet, and memory-making—just as our hopes are for this school year ahead!
